TOEFL is an English language test for students willing to prove their proficiency in the English language for studying abroad and other purposes. Students wanting to appear for the TOEFL exam would be required to register for it. Here is everything you need to know about the TOEFL, and how to register for TOEFL:

TOEFL Registration

The TOEFL registration is a simple and straightforward process. Before you book an Exam, you need to create an ETS account. The first one has to go to https://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/register/ and click on the “Register Online” button. You will be redirected to the page where you will find many tabs. The tabs show different steps of the registration process and you are required to fill in the information as asked. Here are the details:

1. Personal Information: Here, you will have to fill in information like Name, Date of Birth, Email Address, Physical Address, Phone, and Other Contact Details. Click on the “Next”
2. Additional Information: The information to fill is: Country, Native Language, Country of Citizenship
3. Search Services: Agree to the terms of services and continue to the next step.
4. The next information to fill in is the country of interest, level of study, age, the current level of study, planned intake to study abroad, how long have you been studying English, How long have you been at an institute where you were taught in English?
5. Username and Password: In the final step of creating an account, you need to create a Username, Password, and Security Question.
6. Review and Submit: The final step is to review the information you filled and submit the information.

Booking For TOEFL Exam:

Now that you have created your account, the next step is to register for the TOEFL. You have to choose a Test Date at a test center near you. As there are many test-takers, We recommend you to register at least 3 to 4 months before the desired dates. The Test date should be 2 to 3 months before the application deadline to the university. Here is a step-by-step process for TOEFL Registration.

1. Firstly, you will have to sign in with the username and password you have just created. The Login button can be found on the last step of creating your account, or you can visit https://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/register/, to sign in.
2. Click on the Register. Find the available Test Centres and Dates.
3. In the next step, you need to enter the closest location you want to appear for the exam and a 2-month period from which you want to choose the dates.
4. Once you select your exam date from available dates, you will be shown the list of centres available and distance in the form of a list. With every test center, you can see the link to show available exam times. When you click on that option, you will be shown the timings open for that centre on that specific date. Select the timing and click on the “register” button which will be there with the timings.
5. In the next step, you will be asked to provide Identification proof and a number.
6. Next, you will be allowed to choose the universities to which you want to send their TOEFL Scores. You can choose up to 4 institutions to send your scores to, as soon as they are available.
7. The last step before payment is to review the details you have provided in the above steps. You can edit the test Centre, date, time, ID, and recipient details before confirming.
8. Once you are completed reviewing your application, you can add TOEFL Preparation materials if you want to.
9. Proceed to check out. The page will show your TOEFL Exam Details and other preparation material packages if you have chosen them. You can see your total amount to be paid in the bottom right
10. It’s time to pay for the TOEFL exam.
11. Once successfully paid, you will receive a confirmation on your email and ETS account with the exam details and test centre.

Identification Document Required for TOEFL Registration

Apart from the Passport or Driving License, there are several proofs one can provide. However, there are some rules you need to follow for Identity Proof. The ID proof requirements depend on the country you are applying to. The ID Proof should be original, not expired, it should show your full name and a clearly visible photograph.

Rescheduling TOEFL

One can reschedule TOEFL up to 4 days before the original exam date. You can the reschedule TOEFL exam date or timing from your ETS Account, Mobile Application, or by contacting the ETS over the call. Also note, that you cannot reschedule or cancel the test via email.
