New French Visa Checklist & Guidelines for Students for Fall 2020

As you might already know, Universities in France have opened up its doors for international students from August 2020. For Indian students, VFS Application centers for Long stay student Visa for Frace will also open up in selected cities. However, before applying for the Student Visa and flying to France, one should know what are the new and dated requirements to apply for the France Student Visa.

New French Visa Checklist & Guidelines for Students for 2020

Here is all you need to know about the updated student visa checklist and new guidelines for Indian students according to Campus France:

Major Changes from the Previous Checklist for 2020:

  1. No Flight Tickets and Insurance would be Required.
  2. Insurance for the first three months not required now.
  3. For Accommodation, temporary accommodation is allowed in a hotel for 8 days.
  4. Previous Year’s Income Tax Returns would be Required.
These are the major changes to remember while applying for French Visa. Given below are the other requirements and things to remember according to new guidelines.

Other Documents Required as per New Guidelines:

A Valid Passport: A passport with at least two blank pages, and which is valid for at least two months after the intended stay in France

Photocopy of Passport

Visa Application: Long Stay Visa Application filled correctly, signed, and dated.

Photographs of Candidates: 2 passport-sized photographs not older than 3 months, one of them attached to the application.

Admission Letter: Admission letter from the school stating the duration and tuition fees of the course.

Tuition Fee Receipt: A receipt of paid tuition fees, be it partially paid or fully paid.

If Eligible for French Government Scholarship: Attestation of duration and amount of the scholarship

A Cover Letter: Covering the purpose of trip, sponsors, duration of the trip, and motivation.

Academic Documents

Proof of Monetary Funds: In case of Bank Loan, provide Loan Sanction Letter. If there is a sponsor, provide:
  • Cover letter from the sponsor (signed on an A4 paper)
  • Photo ID
  • Bank Statement of the Last three months
  • Income Tax Returns of Previous Year
  • Last three months of Payslip, or proof of the professional situation
Living Expenses to be Shown: 615 euros a month for the first year (1000 euros a month for Paris) + tuition fees for the first year. If accommodation is without charge, the monthly expense to be shown would be 315 euros a month.
